Program Leaders: Engineers from OceansWide, Melanie Meade, SOFO Education and Outreach Coordinator
Learn how remote-controlled underwater vehicles (ROVs) work and how these robot machines help scientists explore the oceans from our near-shore bays to the deepest abyss. Young marine engineers will construct a working model ROV and pilot their craft in a real-world exploration underwater in Sag Harbor. This enrichment experience is free, thanks to the support of an anonymous donor. Students should bring a bag lunch and sunscreen. Transportation to the beach in the afternoon and back to the museum by 4 pm will be provided. Limited space available. Maximum, 12 children.
Advanced reservations are required for all events. For more information, reservations, and directions to meeting places, please call: (631) 537-9735.
