Marine Science Summer Program

Dear SOFO Marine Science Program Families,

After much consideration we have decided to cancel our SOFO Marine Science Program (MSP) for this coming summer of 2020. We cherish the time spent exploring the natural world of the East End with your children and this was not an easy decision, but your child’s safety and the safety of our counselors is our first priority.  All families will receive a full refund once we get back into the office and we look forward to having you join us again next summer.

Please know that while we are canceling some programs we are also beginning new ones.

Join us online on our Backyard Watch Project!  Take photos of flora and fauna and collect data in your own backyard, send the information to us and we’ll post it in our Backyard Watch News!  Or, join the SOFO staff on special Zoom events including: Turtle Time with Jackie Avignone; Camouflage in Nature with Paul King III; or Backyard Birds: Woodpeckers with Melanie Meade.  We also have a special 4-week Zoom series starting in June, featuring Erik the Reptile Guy & His Reptile Edventures!  In July you can join us to learn the latest details about Long Island’s shark research program with Chris Paparo as he introduces you to everything marine, from plankton to whales!

These are just a few of our summer adventures! Check out our website to learn more details about upcoming events.

Kind regards,

Frank C. Quevedo, SOFO Executive Director

Lisa H. Seff, SOFO MSP Director
