Program Presenter: Crystal Oakes, South Fork Natural History Museum (SoFo) Nature Educator
Did you know that some of our local amphibians are getting ready for their breeding season and will brave a walk over snow to a pond to mate? Join Crystal for a presentation about the similarities and amazing adaptations of our local frogs, toads, newts, and salamanders. Learn how our some of our local frogs can survive our freezing winter temperatures, how tree frogs can climb glass, how frogs and toads can change color, why our cold-blooded salamanders will walk over snow to reach ponds, and discover the amazing changes that take place for an aquatic tadpole to become a frog. After the presentation, we will dissect a specially prepared frog to further understand how they survive in aquatic and terrestrial environments. Material fee, $15 per frog.
