Topographic Map Making: This program is for children ages 5-10.

Program Leader: Olivia McGranaghan, SOFO Environmental Educator

Topographic maps show the elevation of a surrounding area using contour lines and show both natural and man-made features. Topographic maps can be used in fields like architecture, civil engineering, urban planning, geology, and to display hiking trails. Join Environmental Educator Olivia in making 3D topographic maps using clay! You will learn about the importance of topographic maps and how elevation is displayed on both 2D and 3D topographic maps. We will discuss different geological formations. Materials fee $5.

For nonmembers, there is a $15 fee for Adults and $10 fee for children for this program. This program fee will also provide non-members with free admission to the museum on a day of their choice. Members are free.

Advanced reservations are required for all events. To register for this program, please contact us at info@sofo.org or call 631-537-9735.
