Spiders, and Bees, and… Butterflies? Oh My! This is a family/caregiver program for children ages 4 and older.
Program Leader: Sandra Reyes, SOFO Environmental Educator
Join Sandra on a walk in Vineyard Field, the field behind SOFO, to collect and identify some of the many insects that make this field their home. We’ll learn how to use bug collecting nets─of course, we’ll release the insects at the end of the program─in order to get a close-up look at the insects we find. There’s a good chance we’ll find a monarch butterfly caterpillar feasting on a milkweed plant. We’ll learn how the caterpillar turns into a butterfly and talk about why the Monarch butterfly travels south in the fall.
Dress Attire– Be sure to have on long socks and boots to protect against ticks and have on tick repellent for extra protection
There is a $15 fee for Adults and $10 fee for children for this program. Members are free.
Advanced reservations are required for all events. To register for this program, please contact info@sofo.org
