Program Leader: Xylia Serafy, South Fork Natural History Museum Environmental Educator.

Join Xylia for an evening summer stroll along Long Beach at low tide in search for sea glass and other treasures. Learn how sea glass transforms from a piece of garbage into something very beautiful. Originating from broken bottles, broken tableware, or even some shipwrecks, sea glass takes 30 to 40 years (sometimes up to 100 years!) to form by being rolled and tumbled throughout the ocean. What rare treasures can you find?

Advance reservations are required for all events. For more information, reservations, and directions to meeting places, please call: (631) 537-9735.
