Walk Leader: Dr. Keith Serafy. Dr. Serafy is a marine invertebrate zoologist who has recently retired, after teaching for 27 years at Southampton College of LIU and, for the last 12 years, at Long Island University, Brooklyn. He has lived on the East End since 1973.

Join Dr. Serafy for a nature walk through coastal habitats of saltmarshes, bay beaches, and sand dunes. He will describe the dominant species of plants and animals in each habitat and how they are well-adapted to their environments. Ospreys will be nesting in the area and should have nestlings at this time. Also, there is a chance to see thousands of fiddler crabs feeding and preparing to mate in the saltmarsh. Dr. Serafy will also share his knowledge about the edible plants and animals that are encountered during the walk.

Advance reservations are required for all events. For more information, reservations, and directions to meeting places, please call: (631) 537-9735.
