As the weather gets warmer, the ground begins to thaw, the ice over the ponds begins to melt, and the reptiles and amphibians that hibernate for the winter begin to wake up. Reptiles and amphibians are cold-blooded animals collectively called “herps”, and the study of these creatures is termed herpetology. In this outing through Vineyard Field behind the museum, we will become herpetologists and learn about the different reptiles and amphibians we might discover, how to identify them, and where to find different species.
Advance reservations are required for all events. For more information, reservations, and directions to meeting places, please call: (631) 537-9735.
