Exploring the Pond with an Underwater Drone: Children 8+

Exploring the Pond with an Underwater Drone: Children 8+

July 25, 2021 @ 10:30 am
South Fork Natural History Museum (SOFO)

The Sofar Trident Underwater Drone diving beneath the surface.

Program Leader: Melanie Meade, SOFO Education & Outreach Coordinator

Drones are robots that can go places scientists cannot, like the surface of Mars or the bottom of a muddy pond. If we walk around in the pond it will be too muddy to see anything. But, if we use an underwater drone with a video camera we can see what the pond bottom looks like, and maybe meet a frog or turtle as well! On this exploration, we will learn how drones work and how machines like these help scientists learn more about our Earth. Limited enrollment.

There is a $15 fee for Adults and $10 fee for children for this program. Members are free.

Advanced reservations are required for all events. For more information, reservations, and directions to meeting places, please call: (631) 537-9735.
