Walk Leader: Frank Quevedo, Executive Director, South Fork Natural History Museum (SOFO)
Thousands of scoters, loons, eiders, and many other arctic avians come to our inshore waters off Montauk Point each winter to feed on the vegetation and invertebrates that live on the ocean floor. Here, we will scan the ocean surface with our scopes and try to identify these arctic visitors as they dive for food and frolic in the surf. Bring binoculars and/or a scope and a field guide to birds of the eastern United States, if you have them. This program is for adults and teens; however children ages 10 and older may attend.
Advanced reservations are required for all events. For more information, reservations, and directions to meeting places, please call: (631) 537-9735.
