Walk Leader: Dr. Keith Serafy. Dr. Serafy is a marine invertebrate zoologist who has recently retired after teaching 27 years at Southampton College of LIU & the last 12 years at Long Island University, Brooklyn. He has lived on the East End since 1973.

Join Dr. Keith Serafy for an afternoon ocean beach stroll along Gibson’s Beach. Dr. Serafy will talk about: sand dune ecology and the special adaptations of the inhabitants—adaptations which allow them to survive the stressful dune environment—and how the beach profile changes seasonally. He will also identify and discuss the plants and animals you find washed ashore, as well as those living intertidally. If you have ever wondered about any of the treasures you’ve found on the beach, this is your chance to ask an expert about them.

Advanced reservations are required for all events. For more information, reservations, and directions to meeting places, please call: (631) 537-9735.
