Walk Leader: Dai Dayton, President, Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt
Cosponsored by Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt (FLPG) and the South Fork Natural History Museum (SoFo).
The July full moon is named the Buck Moon because it is normally the month when the new antlers of buck deer, covered with highly vascular skin called velvet, emerge from the frontal bones of their skulls. Join Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt and SoFo on this one-hour, leisurely paced hike through open-field trails. Afterward, stay for light refreshments and convivial conversation.
Advanced reservations are required for all events. For more information, reservations, and directions to meeting places, please call: (631) 537-9735.
