Walk Leader: Sean Tvelia, Professor of Geology at Suffolk Community College

Professor Tvelia will lead participants on an exploration of the geologic events and environments that have produced and shaped Long Island. From the availability of fresh drinking water and fertile farmland to land development and coastal erosion, the geologic events that formed the Island thousands (to millions) of years ago continue to influence Long Island’s environment. Using current research and images, Professor Tvelia will show the evidence of past environments that remain hidden beneath strip malls and developments and explain how these features not only influenced Long Island’s development but will continue to shape our future development.

Advance reservations are required for all events. For more information, reservations, and directions to meeting places, please call: (631) 537-9735.
