Free StarLab Programs for International Planetarium Day at SoFo
Sunday, March 11, 2018
Cosponsored by the Montauk Observatory
To celebrate International Planetarium Day, SoFo will hold 3 free StarLab showings on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at 10:30am, 11:30am, and 12:30pm at the museum. These programs are cosponsored by the Montauk Observatory.
Each thirty minute showing will be led by StarLab educators, Andrea Pisacano and William Taylor, who will project the night sky on the planetarium’s domed ceiling and delight the audience with the ancient tales, myths, and legends that still help us to locate the positions of the stars in the night sky.
This is a family program designed for children ages 5 and older. As space is limited, we urge interested participants to call the museum at (631) 537-9735 or email the museum at [email protected] to make reservations for their preferred showing time.
“A universal timeless experience is to look at the Night Sky. It is in a way to touch eternity with your eyes and imagination. In the celebration of legends from different cultures we experience wonder and appreciation,” said Andi Pisacano, artist and educator at Wish upon a StarLab.
Admission to the star lab is free for everyone who has made a reservation, however regular admission fees to the museum remain. For members museum admission is free, non-members are charged $10 per adult and $7.50 per child ages 12 to 3, children age 2 and under are admitted free.
