Hoodoos and Other Curious Geologic Features of Montauk Point
June 28 @ 10:00 am
While Earth is 4.5 billion years old, Long Island is only about 11,000. Why is it such a geologically young area? How did it form? Why aren’t there any mountains? The answer? Glaciers! Evidence of Long Island’s origins can be seen all around us, but one of the best spots to find it is at Montauk Point. Learn about moraines, hoodoos, erosion from waves and weather, erratic cobbles, and more geology on this exciting educational hike at Shadmoor State Park.
