DESCRIPTION:Join artist Roisin Bateman in a fun and supportive environment in which to explore different ways to work from— and with—nature using Japanese sumi ink. We will use bamboo brushes\, as well as sticks and  dried plants\, as tools with which to draw and paint. With these materials we will explore various kinds of line and gesture\, as well as ink washes. Class will begin with a demonstration\, followed by time to experiment with the techniques. DESCRIPTION:Artist and teacher Howard Rose will be leading a series of Plein Air Painting Classes for this summer with the Bridgehampton Museum. Plein Air painting has a lengthy history on the East End of Long Island with artists like William Merritt Chase. These classes are for artists of all abilities from beginners to professionals and will take place at a series of beautiful locations within the Bridgehampton area. Join us to get hands-on with some history! \nOur sixth and final class will be taking place at the South Fork Natural History Museum & Nature Center located at 377 Bridgehampton/Sag Harbor Turnpike\, Bridgehampton\, NY 11932. All guests will need to bring their own painting supplies. Classes will be outside so be sure to bring water\, sunscreen\, a hat\, and whatever else you may need. \nLastly\, this fall our aim is to curate a small show of the works you and your fellow classmates worked on this summer! But none of these animals would be able to survive without the tiny life found in the water and in the mud. We will have tanks\, trays\, magnifiers\, and microscopes set out on tables on our bottom deck to help us discover the secret life in our ponds.
