SUMMARY:Observing Ospreys
DESCRIPTION:Since their eggs hatched in late May or early June\, osprey parents have been raising their young. The female does most of the incubating or sitting on the eggs\, and the male has been busy catching fish for all of them. By early July\, the oldest osprey chicks are big enough to start exercising their wing muscles while still on their nest. By late July\, with their parents perched in a nearby tree whistling encouragement to the young birds\, they begin to fly off the nest under their own wing power. If we are lucky\, we may see a fledgling stretching its wings on the edge of its nest! \nProgram Leader: Melanie Meade\, SOFO Director of Education \nThis program is for adults\, teens\, and children ages 8 and older. \nFor nonmembers\, there is a $15 fee for Adults and $10 fee for children for this program. This program fee will also provide non-members with free admission to the museum on a day of their choice. Members are free. Advanced reservations are required for all events. \n  \nSign Up Here!
