SUMMARY:En Plein Air Painting Class with the Bridgehampton Museum
DESCRIPTION:Artist and teacher Howard Rose will be leading a series of Plein Air Painting Classes for this summer with the Bridgehampton Museum. Plein Air painting has a lengthy history on the East End of Long Island with artists like William Merritt Chase. These classes are for artists of all abilities from beginners to professionals and will take place at a series of beautiful locations within the Bridgehampton area. Join us to get hands-on with some history! \nOur sixth and final class will be taking place at the South Fork Natural History Museum & Nature Center located at 377 Bridgehampton/Sag Harbor Turnpike\, Bridgehampton\, NY 11932. All guests will need to bring their own painting supplies. Classes will be outside so be sure to bring water\, sunscreen\, a hat\, and whatever else you may need. \nLastly\, this fall our aim is to curate a small show of the works you and your fellow classmates worked on this summer! The works will be displayed in the historic Nathaniel Rogers House for a limited time this fall. \nProgram Leader: Howard Rose\, Bridgehampton Museum \nThis program is $20 per person. SUMMARY:Seining for Freshwater Fishes and Turtles Too!
DESCRIPTION:Join SOFO’s Reptile & Amphibian Specialist Jake for an opportunity to meet the freshwater fish and turtles that call our local freshwater ponds home. Participants will assist in checking turtle traps for local turtles\, including the common snapping turtle and Eastern painted turtle. After our turtle search\, SOFO staff\, as well as program participants\, will conduct seines hoping to capture local fish such as perch\, bass\, and sunfish. \nProgram Leader: Jake Kushner\, SOFO Reptile & Amphibian Specialist \nThis program is for all ages. \nFor non-members\, there is a $15 fee for adults and a $10 fee for children for this program. This program fee will also provide non-members with free admission to the museum on a day of their choice. Members are free. SUMMARY:SOFO’s East End Outdoor Nature Education with Crystal at Calverton Ponds Preserve
DESCRIPTION:SOFO is offering a monthly program which will take place on the 3rd Wednesday of the month and following Saturday at 1 pm for children ages 3 to 7 years and is geared toward homeschooling families. Programs will have a variety of activities to strengthen language development\, literacy\, math\, and science and will take place at various locations on Eastern Long Island. Be sure to dress appropriately for the outdoors and take tick precautions. \nProgram Leader: Crystal Possehl-Oakes\, the program leader\, has worked as an environmental educator at SOFO since 2005 and part-time since 2019 after her son Wyatt was born. Wyatt and I look forward to meeting you and learning with you! \nThis program is for families with children ages 3-7. \nThere is a $10 per child admission/material fee\, which includes a participating adult.
