SUMMARY:Observing Ospreys
DESCRIPTION:You may have noticed the many Osprey nests around the East End where the adult ospreys have been busy raising their young since the eggs hatched in late May or early June. The female does most of the incubating or sitting on the eggs\, and the male brings fish for all of them. By early July\, the oldest osprey chicks are big enough to start exercising their wing muscles while still on their nest. By late July\, with their parents perched in a nearby tree whistling encouragement to the young birds\, they begin to fly out of the nest under their own wing power. If we are lucky\, we may see a fledgling stretching its wings on the edge of its nest! \nSouthampton Town Beach Parking Permit or daily parking fee required. \nWalk Leader: Melanie Meade\, SOFO Education Director \nThis program is for adults\, teens\, and children ages 8+. \nFor non-members\, there is a $15 fee for adults and a $10 fee for children for this program. This program fee will also provide non-members with free admission to the museum on a day of their choice. Members are free. Advanced reservations are required for all events. \n  \n Sign Up Here!\n
