SUMMARY:In Person @ SOFO and on Zoom: What’s Up in the Sky?
DESCRIPTION:The longest days of summer also bring the shortest nights\, but there is still no shortage of exciting celestial sights this season. This summer the Moon will cover up one of the brightest stars in the sky (Spica)\, the annual Perseid meteor shower will be splendid\, and the planets Mars and Jupiter will meet up for exceptionally close rendezvous in the sky. Come to this lecture if you want to learn how to view all these events\, as well as summer mainstays like the glorious constellations of Cygnus and Sagittarius. The lecture will be offered both in-person and over Zoom. Weather permitting\, the in-person event will be followed by stargazing outside. \nCo-sponsored by SOFO and Hamptons Observatory. \nProgram Presenter: NASA Solar System Ambassador & Hamptons Observatory’s Senior Educator\, William Francis Taylor. \nThis FREE program is for adults\, teens\, and children ages 10+. \n  \n Sign up for the IN PERSON Presentation here!\n  \n Sign up for the VIRTUAL Presentation here!\n
