Come and listen to a poem from the book Song of the Water Boatman and Other Pond Poems (a Caldecott Honor Book), written by Joyce Sidman and illustrated by Beckie Prange; it’s about the fascinating lives of pond insects—who eats whom—and what they need to survive. Write your own poem, and then design your own pond habitat with floating lily pads, a fleet of water boatman, underwater Caddisfly houses, maybe even a dragonfly nymph. Add a ribbon to hang your pond in a window at home!

Materials Fee: $3.

Advance reservations are required for all events. For more information, reservations, and directions to meeting places, please call: (631) 537-9735.
